HTML/Web Content Support & Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF)
You can include HTML web content in your playback using Designer's WebClip feature. WebClips allow you to include:
HTTP URL — A simple URL that allows you to display a web page. This requires a live Internet connection on the player. The page can be cropped and zoomed as well.
.wgt file. This has the benefit of being locally stored so it does not require an Internet connection, but it may pull content from the Internet.
The WebClip feature uses Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) to display HTML web content. While most web pages and widgets are displayed without any problems, in some unusual cases there may be compatibility issues where your web content cannot be properly displayed because CEF does not support it. If you are experiencing any issues with WebClip playback, it can be a helpful troubleshooting step to check the CEF version that exists on the player. By knowing the CEF version, you may be able to verify if the issue is due to incompatibility with CEF, or if the problem is elsewhere and can be resolved. The CEF version that is packaged with each version of Scala Player software is listed below.
