Campaign Manager
For more information about the Campaign Management Tool, see Campaign Management.
The Campaign Management feature integrates Scala Enterprise Content Manager with the Campaign Management Tool by X2O. X2O Media is part of the STRATACACHE family of digital media/marketing technology companies and is headquartered in Montreal.
The Campaign Management Tool allows you to conveniently organize and schedule campaigns. This add on to Content Manager allows you to execute campaigns through your already existing Scala Enterprise network. Use the Campaign Management Tool to:
- Create advertising and promotional campaigns using a color-coded grid system.
- Quickly see an overview of your campaign and immediately identify what slots are available to sell more ads.
- Target ads to appear on specific players within your network.
For more information about the Campaign Management Tool, see Campaign Management.
The Campaign Management Tool is available as an early adopter feature in Scala Enterprise Version 12.00.
The Campaign Management Tool is only available for Scala Enterprise versions 12.00 and above.
To obtain a license for the Campaign Management Tool, customers must go through their normal sales channel.
The Campaign Management Tool can only be used with advanced Scala Media Player licenses. These license SKUs are:
- SW-PAV-4K01
- SW-PAV-4K02
- SW-PAV-4K04
For more information about licenses, see the License Functionality Matrix.
If you cannot see the Campaign Distribution server, the Campaign Management Tool has not yet been configured.
The Campaign Distribution server is created once the notification URL is added to the Campaign Management Authentication tab in Content Manager Network Settings.
You are only able to see the Campaign Network to which you belong and its sub-networks.
For more information about adding a Campaign Player to Content Manager, see Add Campaign Player in the Content Manager version 12.00 help.
A campaign target is a Content Manager frame that is designated for campaign content from the Campaign Management Tool.
A standard player is a Content Manager player that uses assets, playlists, and schedules created in Content Manager.
A campaign player is a Content Manager player that has at least one frame that contains a campaign target. Campaign players play back playlists created in the Campaign Management Tool.
Yes. Change a campaign player to a standard player or a standard player to a campaign player using the Player type field in the Properties tab of the player profile.
To change a Campaign player to a Standard player you will have to delete the associated campaign channel.
A campaign playlist is a playlist generated in the Campaign Management Tool and sent over to Content Manager.
Campaign playlists are generated in one hour increments and contain the campaign advertisements and filler content scheduled for the campaign.
There is no limit to the number of campaign targets that you may have per player. The only limitation is the number of targets that you have licensed through Content Manager.
Campaign channels are cloned from a master channel which contains framesets and the frame(s) targeted for campaign management. As a result, each campaign player receives an unique channel in the following format:
player name-unique player identifier-channel display-channel name
The following table describes each channel element and its format.
Channel Element | Element Format | Description |
---|---|---|
Unique player name | as configured in Content Manager-unique identifier | Identifies the name of player associated with the channel. |
Channel display number | display number | Identifies the channel display number on which the campaign channel plays. |
Channel name | as configured in Content Manager | Identifies the name of the channel. |
The Campaign Management Tool generates playlists in one hour increments and, depending upon your configuration, for multiple days. As a result, each playlist generated in the Campaign Management Tool has a unique playlist name in the following format:
campaign playlist date-campaign playlist time-player name-unique identifier-channel display-targeted frame
The following table describes each playlist element and its format.
Playlist Name Element | Element Format | Description |
---|---|---|
Date of playlist | YY-MM-DD | Identifies the 2 digit year, month, and day for which the campaign playlist is generated. |
Hour scheduled | HH-00-00 | Identifies the hour, using a 24 hour time format, for which the campaign playlist is generated. |
Unique player name | as configured in Content Manager-unique identifier | Identifies the name of the player associated with the playlist. |
Channel display number | display number | Identifies the channel display number on which the campaign playlist plays. |
Campaign frame/target | as named in Content Manager | Identifies the channel frame on which the campaign playlist plays. |
Campaign targets are the targeted Content Manager frame that receives a campaign playlist from the Campaign Management Tool. Once created in Content Manager, the target identification is mirrored in Campaign Management Tool as a virtual player.
player name-unique identifier-channel display-targeted frame
The following table describes each target element and its format.
Target Element | Element Format | Description |
---|---|---|
Unique player name | as configured in Content Manager-randomly generated alphanumeric code | N/A |
Channel display # | display number | Identifies the channel display number on which the campaign playlist plays. |
Campaign frame/target | as named in Content Manager | Identifies the channel frame on which the campaign playlist plays. |
You may use any Scala Media Player with the Campaign Management Tool. The only limiting factor is the license you choose. The Campaign Management Tool can only use advances Scala Media Player licenses.
