Scala Media Players
The Scala Player Configuration dialog contains all the available Scala settings for the player. Use the following settings to set-up your player. The configuration profile contains the following tabs: Use the Network tab to connect the player to Content Manager using an IT network. In order to connect the player to Content Manager, ensure that you have created a player profile in Content Manager. See Creating a Player for further instructions. For instructions to configure the player to access Content Manager, see Connecting the SMP-L to Content Manager Using the Network Tab . Use to determine how the player syncs to Content Manager. Options: Use to determine how to deliver plans to the player. Options: Use to filter the results in the Player Name field. Options: Click to refresh the Player Identification section and search for player profiles. Use the Logging tab determine the amount of detail the player logs contain and how often the player reports activity back to Content Manager. Use to determine how much information is logged against the player. Options: Use the Playback tab to determine how the screen displays content and how sound is parsed. Use to determine how many channels the player plays and how many displays are connected. Options: Use to determine how the media items display on the screen. Options: Use to determine how the channel fits the screen. Options: Use to customize audio settings. Options: Use to separate audio to different speakers: Options: The Playback (Advanced) tab allows you to decide on options to conserve video memory. The options associated with Let Me Decode allow users to set limiting texture size, rounding texture size, reducing colors, texture compression, and conserving buffers as choices to conserve memory. Use to determine how to conserve video memory on your player. Options: Modules are components of the Scala Media Player that have their own specific settings. Some are enabled by default, such as Timing, Launch, and Schedule. Find these settings in the Optional Modules section of the Modules tab. *These modules are not compatible with the Scala Media Player-L. Use the Info tab to find the Scala Media Player release number.

Network
Field Input Description Synchronization drop down select box Plan Delivery drop down select box Content Manager Location free form text box URL for Content Manager instance. Network Name static field Name of the network with which Content Manager is associated. Show Players drop down select box Player Name Filter free form text box Use to reduce the number of returned results in the Player Name field. Type in the name of the player or a few character of the player name. Player Name drop down select box Names of players associated with the instance of Content Manager. Use the Show Players and Player Name Filter fields to reduce the number of results. Refresh button Connect Via Proxy Server Click to connect the player to a proxy server. Once this option is checked, the Proxy Server URL field is active. Proxy Server URL free form text box URL of the proxy server. Reset Settings button Click to reset all setting to default. OK button Click to save changes made made to the Scala Player Configuration dialog. Cancel button Click to close the dialog or revert changes. Logging
Field Input Description Logging Detail Level dropdown select box Number of Days to Keep Logs numerical select box Number of days logs should be kept in the player event/error logs. This will not impact the player billing logs, as they are deleted once sent to Content Manager, if the Playback Audit module is properly activated and configured. See Using Playback Auditing for more information. Alert Content Manager if the Player is Not Running? checkbox Sends an alert to Content Manager if the playback window closes. Minutes to Wait Before Sending Alert numerical select box Number of minutes to elapse before sending an alert to Content Manager that the player is not playing. Module Description Timing Module Use to define the format of the time, date, and weekday variables on the screen. Launch Module Use to determine whether scripts using the Launch EX (which can run external programs from a Scala script) is allowed. Schedule Module Use to determine the first day of the week. Used for weekly scheduling. Queue EX Module* Use to interface with queue control systems. Serial (RS-232) Module* Use to enable bi-directional communication between ScalaScript and external RS-232 devices.
