The Scala Media Player-R is an entry-level, single-output digital media player in a compact design that is an affordable solution for stable, reliable content delivery. Designed and developed by Scala’s engineering team, the media player works seamlessly with Scala’s digital signage software, matching powerful performance with turnkey simplicity. An optimized architecture ensures high quality performance throughout its entire lifetime. System hardening minimizes vulnerabilities and delivers robust system security. The media player’s fanless design keeps it protected from dust and debris, ideal for any digital signage solution in any environment. Select from two variations:

  • Scala Media Player-R
  • Scala Media Player-R Plus

Operating System

The Scala Media Player-R can only be purchased running the Linux Player for ARM operating system.

Licensing

For most users, the Scala Media Player-R pairs best with a standard (PST) license, allowing for single-channel, single-frame output for images, video, and HTML content.

If you have the Player-R Plus edition, which has twice the amount of memory and is able to playback 4K content at frame rates of up to 60 frames per second, an advanced (PAV) license will help you get the most out of your player.

You can use a lite (PLT) license with either type of Player-R, but it imposes some limitations. For details about the different licenses, refer to the License Functionality Matrix.

Recommended license for the Player-R: SW-PST-HD01

Other licenses you may use with the Player-R: SW-PLT-HD01, SW-PAV-4K01
