Before installation, unpack the $LINQ unit and carefully inspect it for damage.

Configuration Credentials

The player arrives to you set up with two user accounts, as outlined in the table below. For more information about user accounts, refer to Understanding the User Accounts on Linux Players.

Proper security practice requires that you change the default passwords to strong passwords before deployment. For instructions, refer to  Changing Passwords for the User Accounts on a Linux Player.

There are two methods for setting up $LINQ $ALL:

  • Using a mouse and keyboard.
  • Network set-up using a remote connection.

Required for Setup

In order to set up the $LINQ tablet, you will need the following:

  • RJ-45 cable for wired networks.
  • 120V or 240V electrical outlet.
  • Wireless mouse and keyboard - the Linux Operating System and the $LINQ tablets do not support a touchscreen keyboard.

Optional Setup

For remote setup:

  • Laptop running vncviewer-*.exe or vncviewer64-*.exe and connected using an Ethernet crossover cable.

  • PuTTY or another SSH client.

Connecting the Cables

the 11.6" and 15.6" $LINQ tablets have a Power Over Ethernet (POE) feature meaning that you do not have to use the power cord if using a wired Internet connection.

Wired Connection

  1. If using a wired network, plug the RJ-45  cable into the RJ-45 jack on the back of the unit. 
  2. Plug the cable into an RJ-45 jack.

Wireless Connection

  1. Connect the power adapter to the power cord.
  2. Screw the power adapter into the power connector on the back of the unit. 
  3. Plug the power cord into a 120V or 240V electrical outlet.

Starting the Device

Once the unit is plugged in, the $LINQ player starts. If the unit does not automatically start, press the power button on the front of the device.

Before proceeding with player configuration, ensure that you have created a player profile in $CM. See Creating a Player Profile for more information.
